Founded in 1871, this brewery produced its first beer in 1873 and soon became successful. The company was taken over by the Communists after World War II. Since the 1990 Reunification of Germany, however, the Altenburg story has started anew, and it is again the biggest brewery in the region.


Altenburger Schwarze

beer style: Schwarzbier
alcohol content: 4.9% ABV

This mahogany-colored beer has an aromatic, malty taste with an intense note of hops.


Festbier

beer style: Bock
alcohol content: 6% ABV

Amber-colored beer, full-bodied, with a taste of mild hops. It is brewed specially for local festivals.
