Johann Liebhard founded this brewery in Aying in 1876, at a time when there were about 6,000 breweries in Bavaria. That number has dropped to about 700 today, but Ayinger has survived and was renovated by the Inselkammer family in 1999. It has since become more widely known.

A honeylike aroma with light flowery hops leads on to a harmonious finish.


beer style: Doppelbock
alcohol content: 6.7% ABV

The taste of malt dominates this nearly black, strong beer. It is not as sweet as other doppelbocks of the same quality.
