This simple, seasonal menu is perfect for making ahead, as the flavors develop on reheating. Using ingredients that are in season means you get the best quality produce, at the best prices, and a better flavor to your finished dish.


Day before

Main course

Make the hotpot. Cool, cover, and chill.


Make the pastry shell for the dessert (step 1), and chill.


Make the soup. Chill.

2 hours


Prepare the pecan mixture for the tart.

1 hour

Main course

Put the hotpot in the oven to warm through. Top up with hot water if too dry.


Fill the pastry shell with the pecan mixture and bake in the oven.


Reheat the soup until piping hot, and serve with bread.

Check on the hotpot.

Check on the tart.
