The brewers of the venerable Tsurukame saké of Niigata opened Japan’s first microbrewery in February of 1995 to great fanfare. Operations have expanded from the original brewpub to a large-scale brewery with canning line today. While the canned products are well regarded, the more expensive small-production bottled products are even more highly prized.

Echigo Pilsener

beer style: Pilsner
alcohol content: 5% ABV

This reasonably priced craft beer has a rich malty flavor, moderate bitterness, and a clean, quick finish.

Echigo Stout

beer style: Stout

Higher gravity and more care in the brewing of this beer results in a brilliant interplay of rich, roasty flavors.
