Kjetil Jikiun launched Nøgne Ø (“naked island”) in 2003 after learning home-brewing in the US. Now his brewery is Norway’s largest supplier of bottle-conditioned ale.

Brewing secret

Nøgne mixes British Marris Otter malt with American C-hops, including Cascade, Centenneal, Chinook, and Columbus.

East Kent Goldings and Crystal hops and Belgian ale yeast produce a light and refreshing brew, available all year but ideal in summer.

Imperial Stout

A dark, rich ale with a generous sweetness and bitterness coming from the roasted malts.
