Founded in 1983 by Lex Mitchell, this microbrewery handcrafts a characterful range of unfiltered draft beers that are predominantly British in style, combined with a German influence. Some Mitchell’s ales are bottled and widely available in the Cape region, but the beers are not exported.


Old 90 / Ninety Shilling Ale

beer style: Scottish-style Amber Ale
alcohol content: 5% ABV

Aromatic with Pale, Crystal, and Black malts, bark cinnamon, and caramel. The name refers to an old Scottish tax on a barrel of ale.


Raven Stout

beer style: Milk Stout
alcohol content: 5% ABV

Pale and Black malts with lactose and some caramel. Full-bodied and smooth, with a distinct hop aroma.
