New Glarus

Highway 69, New Glarus, WI, 53574

In 2008, New Glarus Brewing moved into a $21 million plant, just outside a picturesque village settled by Swiss pioneers in 1845. In its rural setting, the attractive complex is designed to look like a Wisconsin dairy farm. In 2002 it was a microbrewery that made 13,700 barrels; by 2007, it had increased this fivefold. The new expansion will allow the brewery to double production and keep pace with soaring sales and the demand for brewmaster Dan Carey’s fruit beers and limited-edition “Unplugged” brews. It’s an amazing success story given that New Glarus does not ship its beers outside of Wisconsin.
