North Coast

455 North Main Street, Fort Bragg, CA, 95437

Since opening in 1988, North Coast Brewing has cast a larger shadow than its production levels would suggest. Though small for a regional brewery, it sells beer in 36 states and exports to Europe and the Pacific Rim too. Brewmaster Mark Ruedrich has further extended North Coast’s reputation by exploring beer styles before many others, and brewing them well. Most recently the brewery launched an Artisan series, packaged in corked 750 ml bottles. Part of the profits from one, Brother Thelonious, go to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz for music education. That beer has earned the brewery entry into many international jazz clubs.

Old Rasputin

beer style: Imperial Stout
alcohol content: 11.6% ABV

Powerful, but subtle enough for flavors to emerge—bitter and sweet chocolate, burnt barley, rum, toffee, dried dark fruits, and espresso.

Red Seal Ale

beer style: Pale Ale
alcohol content: 5.5% ABV

Fresh and citrussy. Solid dry malt-caramel character, perfectly balances bracing hoppy bitterness.

Brother Thelonious

beer style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
alcohol content: 9.3% ABV

Spicy and candy-sweet aromas, with dark fruits, notes of banana and caramelized sugar, almost rummy.

beer style: Belgian Strong Golden Ale
alcohol content: 7.6% ABV

Complex, fruity, honeyish aromas. Medium body offers more fruit, a bit of banana candy, and a sweet-smooth finish.
