14300 Northeast 145th Street, Woodinville, WA, 98072

Redhook has merged with Widmer Brothers, but the two breweries continue to operate separately and sell their own brands. Founded in 1982, Redhook survived despite locals calling its first ale “banana beer.” It was not until the introduction of Ballard Bitter in 1984 that it was certain the brewery would succeed.

beer style: Extra Special Bitter
alcohol content: 5.7% ABV

Caramel on the nose, and a slightly grassy palate, with fruit, honey, and butterscotch notes.

Blackhook Porter

beer style: Porter
alcohol content: 5.2% ABV

The brewery calls this a “London porter.” Dark chocolate malts trumped by roasted coffee beans and a pleasant, acrid sour note.
