The Stevens Point Brewery gained a measure of fame when, in 1973 (at a time when American beer choice was at its lowest), Chicago Daily News columnist Mike Royko named Point Special as the best beer in the US. Founded in 1857, Stevens Point is the fifth-oldest continuously operating brewery in the country.
