Step 1 Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart. Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.

Step 2 Raise one arm out to the side and pause with the dumbbell at about shoulder height. Hold this position before returning to the starting position to repeat on your other arm.

Tips

Raise the dumbbell slowly to keep tension on your shoulder.

Avoid using momentum and make sure you hold the dumbbell at the top position.

Don't raise the dumbbell too high above shoulder height.
