Heron Pose: Step 1
Step 1 Begin seated in staff pose.
Heron Pose: Step 2
Step 2 Bend your left knee and place the top of your left foot on the ground just outside your left glute.
Heron Pose: Step 3
Step 3 Bend your right knee and take a hold of the outer edges of your right foot with either hand.
Heron Pose: Step 4
Step 4 Gently press your heel away and up, lengthening your right leg.
Heron Pose: Step 5
Step 5 Draw your shoulders down and together on your back and lift your chest, leaning back slightly. Breathe here for at least three deep breaths, then repeat on the other side.

Beginner Tips

Loop a strap on your extended foot.

Tips

Not recommended for those with knee or ankle maladies.

Benefits

Strengthens the core and opens the back of your legs. It's said to be beneficial for flat feet.

Modifications

To deepen, if it feels comfortable on your body, take your chin to your lifted knee.
