Tree Pose: Step 1
Step 1 Begin standing in mountain pose.
Tree Pose: Step 2
Step 2 Transfer your weight into your right foot and bend left your knee and open from your hip out to the left.
Tree Pose: Step 3
Step 3 Keeping your hip open, place the bottom of your left foot on the inside of your right thigh or shin (not the knee).
Tree Pose: Step 4
Step 4 Take your hands together at the center of your chest in a prayer. Lengthen down through your tailbone and draw your shoulders down and together on your back. Breathe here for at least three deep breaths, then repeat on the other side.

Beginner Tips

For extra stability, you can also place the ball of left foot on the ground with your heel on the inside of your right calf.

There are many arm variations in tree. To challenge your balance, try reaching your arms up to frame your face. Or, try closing your eyes.
