Warrior One Pose: Step 1
Step 1 Begin in down dog.
Warrior One Pose: Step 2
Step 2 Round your right knee toward your nose, and step your right foot between your hands to a low lunge.
Warrior One Pose: Step 3
Step 3 Spin your left heel down with the foot slightly angled out.
Warrior One Pose: Step 4
Step 4 Press into your feet, and reach your arms to the ceiling, framing your face. Square your hips and find an internal rotation on your left thigh.
Warrior One Pose: Step 5
Step 5 Look up slightly, opening your chest, and breathe here for at least three deep breaths, then repeat on left side.

Progressions & Variations

Tips

Not recommended for those suffering from high blood pressure, heart problems, or those with knee or ankle maladies.

Benefits

Opens the chest, abdomen, psoas, and ankles. Creates space for deeper breathing. Stretches thighs, calves, and ankles.

Modifications

Some schools of yoga have this pose with your hands together, looking up at your thumbs.
