A bride has taken to a social forum site to slam her bridesmaid for holding her burgeoning baby bump during her wedding photos.

Venting her frustration, the anonymous woman, believed to be from the US, explained her situation on a heated Reddit thread and accused her friend of 'deliberately' trying to steal the limelight.

'In one of the first photos I noticed Kate was deliberately holding her belly so it was really obvious in the fabric of her dress (think basically every maternity shoot photo ever taken),' she explained.

'I asked her to stop holding her hands to show off her belly and to just pose like everyone else. I had to remind her a few more times before we'd finished taking the wedding party photos.'

While many have sided with the bride, with one saying 'I've been pregnant a few times and I didn't stand around holding my belly. That's ridiculous,' others have been more sympathetic towards the pregnant lady in question.

Those that sided with the pregnant bridesmaid, who was seven months gone at the time, highlighted that she may have been feeling uncomfortable, or self-conscious about her bump.

'It is a natural standing position,' wrote one. 'Pregnant bellies are heavy, and sometimes you just need the extra support. I am just as pregnant as OP's friend, and if I'm standing I'm cradling my belly to take the extra pressure off of my back.'

'Pregnant bellies are uncomfortable and sometimes you have to hold them or else you're straight up in pain. It's unconscious a lot of the time. My hands are always on my belly and I'm not nearly as pregnant as OP's friend.' wrote a second, while another raged:

'Is it attention seeking to be visibly pregnant at someone else's wedding? Because it seems like the bride (and a lot of commenters) are treating this girl like she maliciously planned to take over the wedding by not hiding her pregnancy, which is insane to me.'

But the story takes another turn as since the big day, the annoyed woman hasn't spoken to bridesmaid 'Kate.' A mutual friend of the pair revealed that she is annoyed at the bride for 'trying to make her look fat, not pregnant' during the photos.

But other posters stood in agreement with the bride and saw her friend as nothing but attention-seeking.

'I agree with this except OP asked her multiple times not to, and the bridesmaid posed like that anyway,' one commented. 'At that point I'd say, not the a------ because bridesmaid was doing it deliberately.'

A further penned: 'Newsflash: The world doesn't revolve around you- even when you are pregnant,' while a third added: 'Were the bridesmaids paying for the wedding photos? No, it was the bride. Therefore, the bride can make that final decision.'

'The way I read it, everyone was posing in a certain way except for that pregnant girl,' added another, who waded into the debate. 'That's kind of inconsiderate. In that case, I think the bride is NTA.'
