David Beckham has sparked jealousy between top Australian chefs all desperate to feed the showbiz royalty as he continues his family holiday Down Under.

The playful banter between some of the country's top cooks reached boiling point on Wednesday after Matt Moran shared a picture with David in his kitchen.

As expected, Matt's boastful photo after giving 43-year-old a good feeding at his Aria Restaurant Sydney on Tuesday led to virtual spatulas at dawn online.

And Family Food Fight star Matt, 49, has since revealed that David's decision to turn to him was at the recommendation of his best friend, Gordon Ramsay, 51.

'David and I have a mutual friend,' Matt teased to 9Kitchen on Wednesday while discussing his A-list guest of honour.

'David texted Gordon and asked where he should go and eat. And he said Matt Moran.'

Alongside his selfie with David, the chef wrote: 'Hanging out with this legend last night at @ariarestaurant thanks buddy @davidbeckham.'

Twisting the knife (and fork) in further for fellow chefs following his account, Matt then hashtagged 'Becks', 'fine dining' and his restaurant 'Aria'.

MasterChef Australia's Gary Mehigan was first to add a comment under the picture.

'Now you properly jealous,' he wrote alongside a playful emoji face while tagging his co-star, and fellow chef, George Calombaris.

Michael Lambie, the director at Lucy Liu kitchen in Melbourne, also commented.

Being honest about his envy, he simply wrote: 'jealous'.

Prior to feeding David on Tuesday, Matt started his five-star service long before the starter was served - taxing him directly to the door of his CBD establishment.

Taking to Instagram, the Family Food Fight star posted a tongue-in-cheek video with David in his back seat while pretending to be an Uber driver.

'I'm still doing a bit of Uber driving and it's amazing who you pick up at night!' he said after stopping to pick up David.

'How are you going there Mr Beckham, all right?' he casually asked his 'passenger' sitting in the backseat.

In mock frustration, David responded: 'Worst Uber driver I've ever had. I've been lost for two hours in the city!' David is currently playing tourist in Sydney with his wife Victoria and three of their four children, Cruz, Romeo and Harper.
