Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have splashed out on a fresh New York property after recently selling their Westchester County mansion for almost $20.5 million.

The movie stars have spent a cool $4.5million on a 1930s built country estate called Long Meadow, located just 25 miles outside of Manhattan, where they also own a property.

Spanning 12 acres and continuing down to the Hudson River, the new 'downsized' property boasts 22 rooms, eight of which are bedrooms, as well as luxuries such as an indoor pool.

Sitting at the head of a long, gated driveway is the Georgian mansion which as well as its many bedrooms, includes 10 full and two half bathrooms across the three stories.

The rooms include period details, with seven fireplaces dotted around the house while there's also all the mod-cons the Hollywood couple will be used to including an 11-zone heating and cooling system and a four-car garage.

As well as the two bedroom guest suite, the master bedroom includes its own separate sitting room, dressing room, and a lavish bathroom.

Living spaces including a lavish dining room with candy apple red lacquered walls and a statement crystal chandelier.

A double height wood paneled library looks out onto the sprawling grounds, while more casual rooms like the lounge feature a bar, perfect for entertaining.

The lower level comprises of the vast indoor swimming pool, a state of the art fitness suite and games lounge, which will come in useful for the couple's two teenagers.

Outside, a huge stone-paved terrace offers a stunning view across the Hudson River while there's also a summer kitchen. There's plenty of space for the couple to make their mark with room for an outdoor pool.

The couple own a huge portfolio of properties, with an apartment overlooking Central Park located back in the city, just 25 miles from the new house.

Catherine has also invested back home in Wales, snapping up a large house in Swansea for when they're back with family in the UK.

The savvy pair have recently offloaded some of their property though, downsizing in New York after owning their previous country estate for five years, following extensive renovations.

The couple have struggled to sell their luxurious cliff-side villa located in the Balearic Islands of Spain, which Douglas co-owns with his ex wife Diandra Luker.

Back in May, Michael provided a voice-over s new marketing video to promote the sprawling 250 acres estate in a bid to help it sell. After putting it on the market for a staggering $60million in 2014, the American actor personally described the splendours of the home - which has a new listing price of $32.38 million to help draw in interest.

In the two minute video, the Basic Instinct star revealed he 'fell under the spell of the S’Estaca in 1989' when he purchased it with his then-wife Diandra for $3.5 million, but his 'life has now taken a different course' - prompting him to give another push in selling the estate - which is home to two opulent cottages and five apartments.

This appears to be the latest attempt in selling the property after it was reported by DailyMailTV in October of last year that Michael and Catherine pulled their Spanish vacation villa off the market after years of being 'left to rot,'

In 2014, the estate was put on the market by Sotheby's for a colossal $60 million. They were forced to drop the price in 2017 to $45 million, and then again to $40 million in January 2018, before the luxury realtors took it completely off the market in October.

The property supposedly holds only bad memories for Zeta-Jones because it's co-owned by Luker, 62, in a bizarre and awkward timeshare pact.
