Meghan Markle has found herself at the centre of a media storm after her recent trip to watch pal Serena Williams play at Wimbledon caused controversy.

The Duchess of Sussex sat in the middle of a large number of empty seats and fellow tennis fans sitting near her were banned from taking photos of her - - despite the match and clips of her sitting in the crowd being shown live on the BBC.

And now a source at the All England Club has told The Times that the new mum was a "nightmare" and organising the visit had been difficult.

There were also reports that Meghan wasn't invited into the Royal Box as she was wearing jeans, however this is said not to be the case.

The source told the newspaper: "She wanted to come incognito but there was problems.

They couldn't invite her into the royal box because was wearing jeans but that didn't really matter because all she wanted to do was come and watch Serena."

The source also claims that Meghan made a "massive faux pas" by going to see her friend Serena but not staying to watch Andy Murray afterwards.

They said: "Andy Murray was on Court 1 afterwards and it was a massive faux pas not to watch a Brit when she is signed up to the royal family."

However Meghan went to see Serena as a private engagement as the two women have been friends for years, meeting years before the Duchess married into the royal family.

"The Duchess was greeted by AELTC Chairman Philip Brook at the Players’ Reception on arrival before making her way to No.1 Court, and it was always the intention that the visit would be only for the one match.

Meghan was also labelled childish after her staff asked people not to take photos of her at the game - even though there were thousands of people in the stands and a further million watching the match live on the BBC.

However a royal source said it was "unfair" to blame Meghan for what happened.

“Her protection officer was simply doing his job and the Duchess is only too happy to meet well wishers and members of the public when she is out and about.

“After the match she met and greeted several spectators and thoroughly enjoyed he experience as well as seeing her friend Serena Williams won her match at Wimbledon.”

Speaking about the debate on Good Morning Britain , American actress Tatum O’Neal .

She said: "It’s so upsetting to me, because if you think of Princess Diana and you think of how absolutely inclusive she was and she would never turn anyone away.

I wanted her to be the next Princess Diana and it seems like it’s all about her and it’s really upsetting me. I’m sorry Harry, because I love Harry  .

"You are now a royal, you are not an actor to have a bodyguard muscle somebody out I just think it’s so tacky, you know?

"You are not entitled to a lot when you are a royal… I’m fine now. I can walk down the street. I like being anonymous.

"Being raised by so many celebrities, in a way, and then marry a celebrity in my early twenties, I just decided that I would always be nice to people who asked for anything, an autograph or a picture, because that is something they remember for the rest of their life and it’s one second of my life.

"If you get the ring reset … and you do a $400,000 renovation and you do the private jet to New York for the party… it’s not Diana. This is not Diana, this is something else. I don’t know what it is."
