The Queen and the rest of the Royal Family are on their summer holidays, and the Monarch and her husband Prince Philip are enjoying some down time in their stunning Scottish estate Balmoral.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their kids, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and other members of the family will join them over the next few weeks to enjoy the stunning castle and its surroundings.

But there has been some disappointing news for the family this week, as one of their favourite country pass times has been cancelled.

The Queen has been forced to call off the whole grouse shooting season as there has been a drop in the number of the birds in the area due to insects and bad weather , reports the Express .

Prince Charles, William, Harry and Kate have all been known to go out shooting over the summer months, and last year they even took little George along to watch.

The news will be a blow to the family, who are all said to really enjoy shooting.

An insider told the Express: "There’s not much else to do at Balmoral and that’s why so many guests come. It’s a great shame."

However there's one member of the family who will probably be very pleased by the news - Meghan.

The Duchess is believed to be strongly against bloodsports and reportedly wasn't happy about her husband taking part in the family's annual Boxing Day shoot at Sandringham.

Harry and his brother William have been a part of the Boxing Day pheasant hunt for more than 20 years and Harry has a reputation as a fine marksman.

There were concerns last year that Harry's decision not to take part might have added to the rumoured rift between the brothers.

Speaking at the time, a royal insider told the Sunday Mirror: “In his mind, William sees this as another concerning example of his younger brother being pulled away from his family by his new wife.

“Harry’s always loved hunting and it has provided them with a great chance to bond as brothers.

“But now it looks like Harry’s shooting days are over. It’s the latest point of contention between the Princes after a testing time in their relationship.”

The season should have started yesterday and would have run until December.
