The former Liverpool and LA Galaxy star (37) welcomed his fourth child with wife of 10 years Alex and introduced his new baby Lio on Instagram in a sweet with his three older sisters Lourdes, Lily-Ella and Lexi.

But it's the caption that has divided critics and caused an ongoing debate among his six million Instagram followers: "Looks like his ironing and washing is sorted when he gets older."

While some have accused him of being sexist, others have jumped to his defence, saying it was a lighthearted comment meant in good spirits.

Looks like his ironing and washing is sorted when he gets older 😄🤗 ❤️
