The awards honour people who have accomplished extraordinary work with Africa's wildlife. "It is vital that we recognize the dedication of these unsung heroes and the bravery of rangers risking their lives, day and night, on conservation’s frontline," Prince William, a royal patron of Tusk, said of the awards.

The mother of three, who welcomed her and William's youngest in April, just officially returned from maternity leave a month ago, so her appearances, let alone those for formal events, have been less frequent this year.

For the royal soirée, which honored the King and Queen of the Netherlands, Kate wore an icy blue gown by Alexander McQueen, paired with the Lover's Knot Tiara, Queen Alexandra's diamond and pearl wedding necklace, and the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth.

The Duchess' latest public appearance was less formal, but it was for a surprise event.
