Products to add volume to fine locks are among the biggest sellers in the hair market.

But did you know you can add body to your tresses with a haircut? We spoke to some of the U.K.'s top hair experts for their tips on how to make your hair look more volumised with the help of a haircut.

"One of my favourite haircuts for thin hair to make it appear thicker and more volumised is the lob," Leah Durrant, owner of Leah Durrant Hair Salon & Beauty Re:Treat, told us. "This hairstyle is great when paired with light layers and a slight angle, which gives the hair body and shape. Styling this haircut with some texture or tousled waves will also help the hair to look fuller, as well as super chic and on trend!"

Or, if you're after something more sophisticated - why not try a structured bob?

"By keeping the ends straight and blunt, this creates the illusion of thicker ends. I would recommend keeping all hair the same length for this look too, as it will give you more body and reduce flyaway layers," Dean Jones, owner of Dean Jones Hairdressing, added. "Style this look straight and sleek to really create the illusion of fuller hair."

If you want to go for a shorter 'do, then Karen Brown, owner of Hair by JFK, is a big fan of the pixie cut "as it creates the illusion of volume and height due to the layering”.

And to add even more volume to the look, Karen suggests adding a fringe.

"A side swept fringe looks particularly great with this haircut and will allow the hair to appear more volumised, as it frames the face and brings attention to the fringe, rather than the thinness of the hair," she explained. "To finish off the look and add more body, volume and movement, use some sea salt spray that will also create a more quirky, edgy look."
