Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines have announced they're increasing their capacity on the Auckland to Singapore route as part of their joint venture.

A combination of larger aircraft as well as extra flights will bring an additional 35,000 seats to the route between March and October, beginning next year.

Air NZ will be adding two additional flights per week, bringing the total number of flights between Auckland and Singapore by the two airlines to 21 per week.

Key facts:

  • Air NZ will increase flight frequency from 12 to 14 times a week using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft
  • Singapore Airlines will reintroduce its 471 seat A380 aircraft, replacing the 278 seat Boeing 777-300 that's currently in use
  • Tickets for the new Air NZ and Singapore Airlines operated service are available from Wednesday
  • The changes mean there will be daily flights departing Auckland for Singapore at 10:05am, 2:40pm and 11:55pm during peak season.

The increase in flights reflects Aotearoa's growing tourism industry, as well as the rise in popularity of South East Asian countries as holiday destinations for Kiwis.

Earlier this year, Singapore Airlines announced it was increasing the number of flights it operates to Christchurch and Wellington.
