Fire and Emergency is responding to reports of smoke in the cockpit of an aircraft at Auckland Airport.

Five units are on the scene, a spokesperson confirmed to Newshub.

The Air NZ plane was parked at the domestic terminal, bound for Napier on Sunday afternoon.

Passengers were returned to the terminal and ambulances are on their way for patients with possible smoke inhalation.
