Jan. 14, 1907: Major earthquake strikes Kingston

A magnitude-6.5 earthquake caused massive damage to the capital of Jamaica, with subsequent fires devastating several areas. It resulted in the death of almost 1,000 people and left about 10,000 homeless. At the time, it was considered one of the deadliest earthquakes in history.
