Police have arrested 15 people over nine separate robberies of the same Christchurch dairy.

The 24-hour Night 'n Day dairy in Woolston was robbed on six separate occasions between August and December last year and several more this year.

Police on Wednesday said they had arrested 15 people in connection to eight of the nine incidents.

Acting Inspector Paul Reeves said the final incident was still being investigated.

"In addition, we continue to work with retailers to support them both in the event of a crime taking place, as well as in a prevention role," he said.

Police last year said the sale of stolen tobacco was a serious issue in the community and a spate of robberies in the area led to dairy owners considering pulling cigarettes from their shelves.
