News got out Friday that U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is stepping down from his post in December after serving in President Barack Obama's cabinet since 2009.

Duncan is not only one of Obama's longest serving cabinet members, but is "the president’s closest friend in the Cabinet," according to a recent Politico profile of the education secretary. The pair have known each other for years, dating back to when Obama was a state senator in Illinois and Duncan was running Chicago Public Schools. When Duncan leaves the White House, Obama may not only miss having a political confidant, but also a close pal and fierce basketball competitor.

Below are nine times that Obama and Duncan were caught bro-ing out.
