Steven Adams © Soobum Im / USA TODAY Sports Steven Adams Big Kiwi centre Steven Adams hit a career play-off high with 17 rebounds and 12 points as Oklahoma City Thunder edged the San Antonio Spurs 98-97 in game two of the NBA Western Conference semi-final series.

Adams was huge on the defensive boards for the Thunder, picking up 14 rebounds for the match in addition to three on offence.

The narrow win levels the series 1-1 after the Spurs ran away with the opening game 124-92 in San Antonio two days ago.

Adams is mining a rich vein of form at the right time, and has now scored in double figures in three of the Thunder's last four playoff games.

After a strong opening quarter gave Oklahoma a 29-21 lead at the first break, the Spurs powered back in the second spell to shut down the Thunder's lead to 56-53 at halftime.

The Spurs ended the third quarter on a 10-2 run to further narrow Oklahoma's lead to 77-76 at the three-quarter mark.

The Thunder opened the final spell with a promising 6-0 run before back-to-back three-pointers from Danny Green hauled San Antonio back into the game.

With 4.7sec on the clock, Australian point guard Patty Mills missed a three-pointer which would have stolen the match for the Spurs.

Game three in the best-of-seven series is early on Sunday (NZT).
