Two days after scoring 20 points in a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Zealand centre Adams notched a team-high 17 in their 97-87 home defeat of the Denver Nuggets.

The 23-year-old landed eight of 12 shots from the field and also led the way for the Thunder with nine rebounds and two steals in what was their last pre-season game.

The off-season departures of prolific scorer Kevin Durant and power forward Serge Ibaka's may leave Adams tasked with increasing his offensive output.

The 2.13m Kiwi played a predominantly defensive role as the Thunder reached last season's 2016-17 Western Conference final.

Adams, who missed three pre-season games with an ankle injury, mixed some short jump shots with his trademark dunks on Wednesday to out-score star guard Russell Westbrook (12).

The Thunder open their NBA season against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday next week.
