New Zealand centre Steven Adams was at his imposing best in an upset 118-109 win for the Oklahoma City Thunder over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Adams thrilled his home supporters with a powerhouse rebounding display along with 20 points, which was two more than Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James managed.

Of Adams' 13 rebounds, nine came at the offensive end, giving his team numerous second chances.

The 23-year-old has notched 20 or more points seven times this season and he has now tallied 11 double-doubles.

His numbers can't match those of team-mate and Russell Westbrook, whose 29 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists gave him a 26th triple-double for the campaign.

The Thunder remain seventh in a congested Western Conference with a 31-23 record while the Cavaliers (36-16) continued to lead the Eastern Conference.
