Adelaide United don't have a coach for the forthcoming A-League season but the Reds have a key striker locked in.

Baba Diawara has agreed a two-year extension to his stay in Australia, which began in February.

The 29-year-old Senegalese forward has become a fan favourite with five goals in 13 matches since signing for United.

"When we agreed to bring Baba in during the January window, we knew his potential and were always confident he could deliver," Adelaide football general manager Ante Kovacevic said.

"In the games he's played in this season, it's been obvious how hard he works for the team and is a constant threat to our opposition.

"We're very happy Baba has agreed to stay here in Adelaide and be part of our club moving forward."

Diawara has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Reds until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Adelaide - who are hunting for a head coach after Guillermo Amor announced his departure on Wednesday - will also retain the services of three younger players.

Defender Ben Warland, 20, has signed a two-year deal after making his full debut under Amor this season.

Attacking duo Nikola Mileusnic, 23, and Ryan Kitto, 22, triggered contractual clauses to earn an extra season at the club.

With 14 players secured for next season, Kovacevic says Adelaide United was preparing well for next season.

"The re-signings of Baba, Isaias, Michael Marrone, and Taylor Regan, as well as the addition of Paul Izzo, are all positive steps in rebuilding our squad for the new campaign," he said.
