Auckland International Airport is back in business after a fire alarm prompted a brief evacuation.

Crews were called to investigate the cause of the alarm at about 2pm on Thursday, but received no reports of a fire, a Fire Service spokeswoman said.

An airport spokeswoman said she believed it was a technical issue and at about 3pm airport staff tweeted the terminal was "returning to business as usual".
