All Blacks Sevens call for injury back-up

Pita Ahki (shoulder), Sam Dickson (leg), Tim Mikkelson (ankle) and Lewis Ormond (foot) have all been ruled out of the Singapore tournament which begins late on Saturday morning (NZT).

DJ Forbes is also returning home as part of his long-term conditioning plan to ensure he is in the best possible shape to be in contention for the Rio Olympics sevens team.

Antonio Kiri Kiri, Josh van Leishout and Isaac Te Aute leave on Tuesday to join the All Black Sevens in Singapore.

The New Zealanders finished second at Hong Kong, losing 21-7 to Fiji in the final.

They scraped past Kenya 5-0 in pool play and then scored a last-gasp 12-7 victory over South Africa in the semi-final, 10 minutes into extra time.

New Zealand has been drawn in Pool B for the Singapore Sevens and will play USA, France and Canada.

They currently sit second in the world series rankings, one point ahead of South Africa and five points behind leaders Fiji with three tournaments remaining.
