All Whites climb off record low FIFA rank

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 2/06/2016

The All Whites' winning roll has lifted them 14 places above their all-time worst spot on the FIFA world rankings.

New Zealand are up to 147th following wins over Fiji and Vanuatu at the Nations Cup after spending two months languishing at a record low 161st.

They have notched three straight wins, following the 1-0 defeat of Oman last November which ended a two-year international drought.

New Zealand can improve further if they go on to win the Nations Cup in Port Moresby, which will involve games against three more lower-rated Oceania opponents.

Argentina remain well clear of Belgium at the top of the rankings while Australia are down nine spots to 59th.
