Anthony Hudson © Reuters Anthony Hudson New Zealand's satisfaction at their performances on two-match tour of the United States isn't reflected in the latest FIFA men's rankings.

The All Whites have plunged 38 places to 116th in the monthly update which followed a 2-1 loss to Mexico and 1-1 draw with the United States.

The slump doesn't reflect the competitive nature of both New Zealand performances against opponents ranked in the top-25.

New Zealand's ranking improved considerably after winning the Oceania Nations Cup in June, having sunk to an all-time low of 161st.

New Zealand face 166th-ranked New Caledonia in Auckland next month in their first match on the third stage of Oceania World Cup qualifying.

Papua New Guinea are ranked second in the lowly Oceania confederation, in 159th spot.
