Alleged west Auckland peeping tom caught

An alleged peeping tom has been arrested after he was caught watching people at a west Auckland home through a window.

Police were called to a Grey Lynn property on Wednesday night after the occupants reported seeing someone looking at them through the window.

Officers were immediately deployed and arrested a 48-year-old man about an hour later.

A search warrant was executed at a property on Thursday morning where they seized numerous electronic items which are now being forensically examined.

Grey Lynn residents have been reporting a prowler in their neighbourhood since February.

Last Wednesday, police received calls about a similar incident where a man was caught filming people inside a home on a mobile phone, but he managed to get away.

The man appeared in Auckland District Court on Thursday on one charge of unlawfully being on a property and one charge of peeping and peering.

He has been remanded into custody and will be appear in court on Friday.

Police have not ruled out further charges.
