Officers found P worth $448 million in a campervan in the Far North earlier in the month after locals tipped police off about suspicious behaviour and boats being launched from 90 Mile Beach.

Later in the day, they found another $48m worth of methamphetamine buried in sand dunes near an abandoned boat, lifting the total haul to nearly $500m.

Police on Monday arrested a seventh person, 33-year-old man, over the bust.

He will appear in Auckland District COurt on Tuesday charged with importation, possession for supply and participating in an organised crime group.
