Marina Erakovic has bowed out of the latest WTA event in South Carolina to continue a forgettable start to 2017.

Kiwi world No.107 Erakovic lost 6-4 6-1 to Tunisia's Ons Jabeur at the Volvo Car Open in Charleston.

Erakovic failed to convert either of her two break point opportunities while her own serve was broken four times by 131st-ranked Jabeur.

In seven WTA tournaments this year, Erakovic has either lost in qualifying or in the first round of the main draw.
