An armed offenders squad deployment at an Invercargill house has ended with the sole occupant being taken into custody.

Police were called to a Oteramika Road address on Monday and say the 40-year-old occupant co-operated with officers.

They say there was no identifiable danger to members of the public during the incident.

Smoke seen at the address was related to a car fire connected to the police investigation.

No charges have yet been laid.
