Commonwealth Games gold medallist Shane Archbold will contest this year's Tour de France, less than two years after swapping the track for the road.

The lead-out rider for German outfit Bora-Argon 18 was named in their nine-man team for next month's 21-stage, 3519km epic.

Archbold won the scratch race at the Glasgow Games before turning his attention to the road.

Veteran Greg Henderson is likely to be named lead-out rider for Lotto Soudal while Jack Bauer is in contention for a ride with Cannondale-Garmin and George Bennett has made the long list for LottoNL-Jumbo.
