They now face charges of aggravated robbery after circling a sugary snack on March 6 when they entered a BP in Rolleston and holding up the attendant at knife and hammer point.

Police said they smashed a glass shelf while staff members retreated to a back room and then left with "an unknown amount of confectionery".

The duo's names and ages cannot be revealed.

They have been remanded in custody to appear in the Youth Court in April.
