Army captain charged over pistols

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 2/08/2016

An army officer is accused of lying about securing two handguns at Palmerston North last year.

The unnamed captain will face a court martial at Linton Military Camp later this month, the Defence Force says.

He faces two charges relating to incidents in November last year - failing to do his duty and secure two pistols and later, during an investigation, making a false statement that he had secured the pistols in a server room.

The Defence Force said it would not reveal any further information before the court martial on August 23.
