A 20-year-old woman has been arrested over a fight outside a south Waikato high school allegedly triggered by an argument on Facebook.

A teenage schoolgirl was punched and kicked in the head outside the college on Monday, media earlier reported.

Video of the fight emerged on social media.

The 20-year-old woman was arrested on Friday and will appear in court on Monday.

She's charged with inciting violence and assault with intent to injure.

The attack reportedly stemmed from a Facebook fight between the victim's friends and another teenage girl.

The teenagers arranged to meet outside the school but the one of the girls brought a group of adult relatives, the NZ Herald reported.
