A man has been arrested following a manhunt by armed police in the suburb of Hope, near Richmond.

The 35-year-old was arrested on Thursday afternoon after police had earlier in the morning been called to an incident at a local Hope business.

Police are investigating and say he is likely to face firearms related charges.

It comes after armed police cordoned off the area on Thursday morning as they said they were looking for a man wanted in relation to "threatening behaviour".

According to Fairfax, the incident happened at a car dealership with a witness saying they saw a man pull a shotgun on another man.

Police also arrested another 44-year-old man, wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, while searching properties as part of the manhunt.
