Arrest made over Hamilton shooting

Teina Williams, 25, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday at a Hamilton address, police say.

A boy was wounded in the second shooting on Melville's Norrie St in a week.

The 14-year-old victim suffered only minor injuries to an arm and was taken to hospital for treatment but has now been released and is talking to police.

Police issued a public alert on Williams after Thursday's shooting.

Last Saturday a man was shot in the thigh in Norrie St.

Police initially said they were not drawing any links to the earlier shooting but later said they were investigating possible connections.

In March last year, 29-year-old Michael Thompson was fatally shot in Norrie St and teen Tyson-Tainui Te Tomo, also with the Mongrel Mob, was jailed for his murder.

Williams will appear in Hamilton District Court on Monday.
