Three months after a Hastings bar were robbed at knifepoint, police have made an arrest.

A 43-year-old was charged with aggravated robbery over the raid of Zabeels Sports Bar and TAB on June 7, police said on Wednesday.

Two men had entered the bar, threatened and assaulted staff and made off with cash during the morning raid.

"This has been a lengthy investigation and it is extremely satisfying to place one of the offenders before the court," said Detective Sergeant Craig Vining.

Police were continuing to hunt for the second man and another person who was likely the getaway driver.

They believed one of the men had gone on to rob the Horse and Hound in early July, where a staff member was cut in the head.
