A man has been arrested following the armed robbery of a takeaway shop in Te Puke.

A knife-wielding man robbed the Te Puke Noodle and Fish store on Jellicoe Street for a small amount of cash before fleeing on foot on May 12.

Police on Wednesday said they had arrested a 22-year-old man and charged him in relation to the aggravated robbery.

He is due to appear in the Tauranga District Court on Thursday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said inquiries were still continuing into a series of other recent robberies in the area.
