Arrests after Auckland man beaten

Police have made two arrests after a man was badly beaten in an early morning fight on Auckland's Karangahape Road.

The 23-year-old was knocked unconscious when he was kicked and stomped on during the scrap on Sunday morning.

He suffered significant head and facial injuries and was taken to Auckland Hospital where he was in a serious but stable condition.

A 22-year-old has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and a 21-year-old has been charged with assault with intent to injure.

Both will appear in Auckland District Court on Monday.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
