Auckland City FC have begun their preparation for the club World Cup in Japan with a 4-1 over club opponents in Hong Kong.

Two goals by striker Joao Moreira and one each for Dae Wook Kim and Clayton Lewis were enough to see off Hong Kong Rangers.

Former Wellington Phoenix midfielder Albert Riera and Mario Bilen helped the visitors dominate possession while coach Ramon Tribulietx made good on his promise to make multiple substitutions.

Auckland City FC's other warm-up game is against third-tier Japanese club SC Sagamihara on Friday.

They open the club World Cup the following Thursday when they face the still-to-be-determined J-League champions in Yokohama.
