Auckland fog hits international flights

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 6/07/2016

A flight from Fiji has been diverted to Wellington as fog continues to disrupt travel in and out of Auckland Airport.

The Qantas flight FJ411, a codeshare with Fiji Airways from Nadi, was meant to land just before midday on Wednesday but diverted.

Auckland Airport says a total of seven international flights were affected in the morning.

Flights from Brisbane and Port Vila were delayed.

Most affected were flights to and from regional centres, where 41 were cancelled and 18 delayed.

On the main trunk routes Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown flights were delayed.

The fog rolled in about 7.30am and was still disrupting operations by midday.

Travellers were urged to check the airport's website for flight information.
